Virginia Hospital Center achieved an “A” Hospital Safety Grade, for the 13th consecutive time, from The Leapfrog Group. With the Hospital Safety Grades, Leapfrog assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on how safe they are for patients.
Jeffrey DiLisi, MD, MBA, Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer, Virginia Hospital Center said, “It is exceptional for our Hospital to be recognized for not only having a great safety record, but our consistency in providing patient safety over many years. It takes all areas of the Hospital working together to meet the rigorous standards that lead to this consistent recognition.”
Developed under the guidance of a National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign the grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
“Virginia Hospital Center’s continued success in achieving an A rating is evidence that the organization places an emphasis on protecting patients from preventable medical errors, injuries and infections. We are inspired by Virginia Hospital Center’s leadership on patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
