Star Recognition
Star recognition is for patients who want to recognize exceptional service or an exceptional experience as a result of an interaction with one employee.

All VHC Health employees.
How do you nominate an employee?
Patients or staff on behalf of patients can email nominations to starrequests@vhchealth.org.
How are nominees selected and recognized?
All employees recognized by name in the nomination will be awarded a star.
DAISY Award
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Pat's family experienced firsthand the difference his nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and outstanding compassionate care. The family created the DAISY Award to express gratitude and to enable other patients, families, and staff to thank and honor their special nurses.

Make a DAISY Award Nomination
Who can be nominated?
Any VHC Health nurse.
How do you nominate an employee?
To nominate a nurse, visit daisynomination.org/vhc and fill out the form. Physical forms can also be obtained from the nurses' station on the unit where you are located.
How are nominees selected and recognized?
Nominees are announced monthly in an all-nurse email notification, and winners are announced via email as well. Both nominees and winners receive a pin for their badge acknowledging the nomination. Winners are chosen by a nurse leadership selection committee and each winner will receive a personal visit by the Chief and/or Associate Chief Nursing Officer, a celebration on their unit with Cinnabon's, the favorite treat of J. Patrick Barnes, and the official award of the DAISY Foundation.
Cherry Blossom Award
The Cherry Blossom Award recognizes exceptional clinical technicians who display a remarkable work ethic, outstanding teamwork, and dedication to their patients' well-being, all while fostering a positive work environment with their colleagues.

Who can be nominated?
Clinical technicians.
How do you nominate an employee?
Fill out the form here or obtain a Cherry Blossom Award form, which can be found in the administration office outside of the nursing office.
How are nominees selected and recognized?
Nominees are recognized with a certificate, cherry blossom pin, cake, and flowers on their units with their leaders and peers. The nomination is read by senior leadership with their team to celebrate the accomplishment.
Sunshine Award
The Sunshine Award is a recognition program that celebrates the achievements of those employees who are not nurses or clinical technicians, but support our patients in a variety of ways. This award recognizes that every member of our team at VHC Health plays a crucial role in patient care and experience.

Who can be nominated?
All employees who are not nurses or clinical technicians (i.e., Environmental Service, Dietary, Pharmacy, Lab Techs, Radiology, Administrative, Operative, and Support).
How do you nominate an employee?
Please complete and submit the form.
How are nominees selected and recognized?
All nominees are recognized with a certificate, and one nominee is selected for the award by a committee each month. The winner will receive a pin, certificate, balloons, cupcakes, and a social media post.
Nightlight Award
The Nightlight Award is for any employee who makes the night shift better for staff and patients overall.

Who can be nominated?
Any VHC Health night-shift employee can be nominated.
How to nominate an employee?
Fill out the form here or email zrink@vhchealth.org with your nomination. Please include the employee's name, unit/department, and reason(s) for nomination.
How are nominees selected and recognized?
Winners will be selected by the Night Shift Council and will receive a shout-out & picture in the Chief Nursing Officer's monthly email, as well as a special pin and certificate.
