FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
VHC Health’s Dr. Elizabeth Brunn Recognized as a Washington Business Journal 40 Under 40 Honoree
Arlington, VA (January 20, 2026) – VHC Health, a leading community-based health system serving the Washington, DC region, is proud to announce Elizabeth Brunn, MD, Vice Chief of Women's Health, has been named a Washington Business Journal 40 Under 40 Honoree. This prestigious accolade recognizes young professionals in the region who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and community impact.
Board-certified in OBGYN and fellowship-trained in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, Dr. Brunn specializes in complex cases often declined by others, including endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, and Asherman’s syndrome. Within four years of joining VHC Health, she has become the highest-volume female surgeon in the service line, ranking among the hospital’s top surgeons overall, demonstrating remarkable efficiency and clinical impact. Through her work, she transforms lives, reduces suffering, and raises the standard of care, creating lasting impact for patients and the women’s health service line as a whole.
“We are immensely proud to have Dr. Brunn as a member of the VHC Health team,” said Darryl Ernst, MHA, Senior Vice President, VHC Health Physicians. “Her drive for excellence, commitment to our mission, and ability to inspire those around her make a meaningful impact every day. This recognition is well deserved, and we are proud to celebrate Dr. Brunn and the positive influence she continues to have on our team and the communities we serve.”
When Dr. Brunn joined VHC Health as the first subspecialist and one of approximately seven OBGYN providers, she proactively advanced a vision for comprehensive women’s care. She advocated for the integration of subspecialties including urogynecology and gynecologic oncology, directly participated in recruitment, and helped design the Charlotte S. Benjamin Center for Women’s Health at VHC Health’s Outpatient Pavilion to ensure the space met the needs of female patients. Since that time, the program has grown to more than twenty OBGYN physicians, with specialized support in urogynecology and gynecologic oncology, underscoring Dr. Brunn’s leadership in building high-performing clinical programs and driving sustainable growth across the women’s health service line.
“Dr. Brunn exemplifies exceptional dedication, clinical expertise, and transformative leadership in women’s health, and this award is a testament to the passion she has for healthcare,” said Kelly Orzechowski, MD, FACOG, Chief of Women’s Health. “She is a fierce advocate for her patients and it is truly a privilege to work alongside her.”
VHC Health congratulates Dr. Brunn on this prestigious achievement and is confident that her leadership will continue to contribute to the success and growth of the high-quality care delivered by the women’s health service line.
