VHC Health Welcomes Amy Hauser, CFRE, as Foundation President & Senior Vice President of VHC Health System
Arlington, VA (April 14, 2025) – VHC Health, a leading community health system in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Amy Ellis Hauser, CFRE, as the President of the VHC Health Foundation and Senior Vice President of the VHC Health System. This selection comes as VHC Health expands its presence across multiple locations throughout the DC region.
“Philanthropic giving has always been the cornerstone of VHC Health,” said Hauser. “As VHC Health grows with the community into a comprehensive health system, the generosity from the community remains essential in touching and improving the lives of patients through compassionate, state-of-the-art care. I am excited to return to VHC Health and combine my passion for healthcare with my experience connecting donors to philanthropic opportunities that have the power to make a difference.”
With over 30 years of experience transforming healthcare through philanthropy, Hauser’s most recent roles include serving as Chief Philanthropy Officer at Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, and Associate Vice President at Children’s National. She previously held key positions at the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation (now the VHC Health Foundation), including Director of Principal Giving and Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving.
“VHC Health is rapidly expanding, introducing state-of-the-art healthcare projects this year and beyond,” said Chris Lane, President and CEO of VHC Health. “The community plays a crucial role in driving these initiatives forward, and Amy is uniquely qualified to connect philanthropic opportunities that empower individuals to make a meaningful impact in the communities VHC Health serves.”
“The generosity of our community plays a pivotal role in our ability to provide high-quality, accessible healthcare to all of our patients,” said Sid Simmonds, CPA, VHC Health Foundation Board Chair. “We are thrilled to have Amy rejoin the organization. Her extensive experience and previous contributions will be invaluable as we elevate our philanthropic efforts and deepen our patient engagement.”
Hauser’s notable previous achievements at VHC Health include designing and implementing the Foundation's annual giving and major capital campaign of $50 million. At Conquer Cancer, she led a feasibility study and readiness assessment for an endowment campaign to double previous fundraising revenue and expand donor audiences over five years. At Children’s National, Hauser collaborated closely with hospital leadership to devise a strategic fundraising plan and implement a successful $500 million comprehensive campaign.
Hauser holds a Master of Arts from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where she graduated magna cum laude. She has lived in Arlington for over 22 years and has two children that were born at VHC Health. She served as a Board Member for Doorways for Women in Arlington, VA, from 2015 to 2021, and as a Board Member for the Association for Fundraising Professionals DC Chapter in 2018.
