Sharon Brickhouse Martin Selected a 2024 Black Healthcare Leader to Know by Becker’s Hospital Review

Arlington, VA (May 28, 2025) –
VHC Health, a community-based health system providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area, is proud to announce that Sharon Brickhouse Martin, Vice President of Health Services Integration at VHC Health, was honored by Becker’s Hospital Review as a 2024 Black Healthcare Leader to Know. In her role as Vice President of Health Services Integration, Ms. Brickhouse Martin is responsible for leading, planning, and managing strategic initiatives and complex projects that require coordination across multiple VHC Health departments and service lines. She works collaboratively to ensure successful project completion and integration across the entire health system.

Ms. Brickhouse Martin was also selected to lead the team that developed the recently opened Charlotte Stump Benjamin Center for Women’s Health at VHC Health, a 26,000-square-foot space designed by and for women to provide seamless care delivery over the course of women’s lifetimes. Since its opening in October 2023, the women’s health services team has noted a marked increase in patient health encounters seeking primary care, gynecology, obstetrics, cardiology, maternal fetal medicine, and breast care.

“Sharon is both a leader and a visionary at VHC Health and the healthcare community as a whole,” said Christopher T. Lane, President & CEO of VHC Health. “Her passion for providing the best possible hospital experience for patients is evident in her leadership in designing the Charlotte Stump Benjamin Center for Women’s Health as well as her day-to-day management at VHC Health. We are proud, and not surprised, that Sharon has been honored for her outstanding work.”

The Becker’s Healthcare list was developed through nominations and editorial research and represents leaders that are dedicated to “shaping the patient experience, educating and training the next generation of healthcare providers, and furthering equity and inclusion.” More information about the award can be accessed here.
