Arlington, VA: September 18, 2019 – Virginia Hospital Center (VHC), a community-based hospital providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area for 75 years, announced that its President & CEO James B. Cole received the Kiwanis Club of Arlington’s 2019 Community Service Award during the Kiwanis Club’s weekly meeting on September 18, 2019. This award honors members of the Arlington Community who have performed extraordinary service.

“Through his efforts over the past 25 years, Virginia Hospital Center has achieved national recognition as one of the top hospitals nationwide,” said Tom Parker, head of the Kiwanis Club selection committee. “His commitment to our community extends beyond the hospital.”

James Cole has served as President & CEO of Virginia Hospital Center since 1994 and is a current member and former chairman of the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association Board. He has been actively involved at the local level, including service on the boards of CrisisLink and the Arlington Free Clinic. In 2013, he was included in the Washington Business Journal’s list of the 50 Most Admired CEOS across the region, and in 2014, he was enshrined in the Arlington Business Hall of Fame.
