NBC4: New Hope for Heart Patients

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the US. Every year, more than 500,000 people have open heart surgery, while thousands more are turned away for being too high risk for the procedure. A new minimally invasive option is giving hope to heart patients, allowing them to recover faster than ever before. At Virginia Hospital Center, Dr. Ben Galper was the first in the US to perform a combined #coronaryIVL followed by TAVR. He recently spoke to NBC4 about the procedure, which has been a “game changer” for patients at VHC and beyond.
