Healthy Pregnancy Steps
Preparing for pregnancy starts long before conception. It's one of the best steps you can take for your health and your future baby. Build a strong foundation now by making informed, healthy choices and working closely with your doctor.
Ways to get ready:
- Talk to your gynecologist about your health, family history, and pregnancy plans.
- Ask about genetic testing to understand any potential inherited risks.
- Stay active with regular movement or fitness classes.
- Quit smoking if you currently smoke.
- Focus on healthy eating and weight. Your doctor and a registered nutritionist can help you create a plan to support your body as you prepare for pregnancy.

Virtual OB Care That Fits Your Schedule
The OB Connect program at VHC Health offers expectant parents a convenient and flexible option for prenatal care. With at-home remote monitoring, you can reduce in-office visits while still receiving expert guidance. Take advantage of the VHC Health OB Connect program, which offers expectant parents like you a more convenient, time-saving and flexible option for prenatal care. VHC OB Connect equips you with at-home monitoring equipment. This enables you to have more prenatal appointments and reduces the need to take time off from work or arrange childcare to attend standard appointments.
What's the Benefit?
Convenience at your fingertips.
VHC OB Connect lets you attend some of your 16+ prenatal care visits remotely. Instead of going to the office, you can use video and at-home monitoring equipment. A dedicated OB Connect Midwife conducts these video visits.
VHC OB Connect Registration
Registration for the program is $195. This fee covers all equipment, a water bottle, and a notebook. After you enroll, you'll get an electronic blood pressure cuff and a fetal doppler. These tools help you track your health at home. Two days before each virtual visit, send your blood pressure and fetal heart rate readings, using the MyVHC patient portal. Talk to your provider at your next prenatal appointment to see if OB Connect works for you.
Before & After Birth Midwifery Care
Many women choose to receive care from midwives throughout their lives. This includes care during pregnancy. Midwives are specially trained to be primary caregivers for women. They assist with routine gynecological care, prenatal care, delivery, and the postpartum period.
VHC Health’s Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM)
VHC Health’s Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) work alongside our OB/GYNs to provide individualized, evidence-based care to women. Our midwives provide comprehensive pregnancy care, including regular check-ups, monitoring your health and baby’s growth, and ordering blood tests and ultrasounds.
In addition to clinical care, our midwives provide education on nutrition, breastfeeding, and birth preferences, and connect patients with resources to support their pregnancy and postpartum experiences. The midwifery model of care promotes physical and emotional well-being, helping you feel empowered and informed.
Currently, our midwives provide outpatient care only and do not attend deliveries.
