Wellness Scan

Imagine a simple, painless test that can help you understand your health and catch problems early—before they turn serious. A scan you can schedule with one phone call, finish during your lunch break, and still have time to eat. And what if you could get this test at a trusted hospital with the latest technology and a convenient location?

You don’t have to imagine it. This test already exists. It’s called the Wellness Scan, and you can get it now at VHC Health in Arlington and the DC metro.

How It Works

The Wellness Scan uses a very low‑dose CT scan to take detailed pictures of your body. These images help find tumors, blockages, artery problems, or other signs of disease. With this technology, VHC Health can give you a clear look at what’s happening inside your body. If everything looks good, you can feel reassured and confident about your health.

What to Expect

The whole visit takes about 30 minutes. You will:

  1. Schedule through the Radiology Scheduling Center. (You don’t need a doctor’s referral.)
  2. Go to our Radiology Department.
  3. Drink eight ounces of fluid before the scan.
  4. Lie comfortably on a table inside an open‑ring CT scanner.

You won’t feel anything, and the machine uses only a small amount of radiation.

Cost & Insurance

Insurance doesn't cover the Wellness Scan, and you must pay in advance. Ask our schedulers for the current price.

Get a Doctor's Opinion

After your scan, you can talk with a radiologist. They'll show you the images, explain what they see, and answer any questions. You’ll also get a digital copy of your scan on a CD that you can take to your primary care provider. The CD works on any computer because it includes the viewing software.

Don't have a primary care provider? Search our doctor directory. A primary care physician is your partner in long-term health.

Who Should Consider the Scan?

The Wellness Scan isn't meant to diagnose symptoms you already have. Instead, it helps find problems early—before you notice anything.

You may want a Wellness Scan if you're over age 35 or have a higher risk for conditions such as:

  • Aneurysms (weak blood vessels)
  • Emphysema (lung disease)
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Heart disease
  • Kidney stones
  • Lung cancer
  • Ovarian cancer

Finding these issues early can help you get treatment sooner, when it works best. And if you’re healthy, the scan can give you peace of mind.
