Steps to Admission
- Complete a phone screening
- Verify insurance and bed availability
- One approved, present to the VHC Health emergency department for clearance and subsequent admission to Recovery & Wellness
Our Services
Inpatient Medical Detoxification (Detox)
- Typical length of stay is three to seven days based on medical evaluation
- Goals include medical stabilization of withdrawal symptoms and connecting patients with longer-term care such as a 30-day inpatient rehabilitation, partial hospitalization program (PHP), or intensive outpatient program (IOP)
- Admission Criteria: Recent substance use within 24 hours of admission, and is at risk for moderate to severe withdrawal symptoms requiring medically monitored detoxification
Inpatient Rehabilitation (Rehab)
- Typical length of stay is 28-30 days and is determined in accordance with American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) standards and individual patient goals and treatment objectives
- Goals include education and counseling to support recovery for a healthier and stable life
- Admission Criteria: Completed detoxification and continues to be at-risk of relapse without the structure and support provided in inpatient care

What to Expect
Once medically stable, all patients are expected to engage in scheduled therapeutic activities. The program provides structure, support, health, social interaction, and education on substance use disorders and recovery. Time is also set aside for personal reflection, connecting with outside supports, chaplain services, and exercise.

Packing
What to Pack
- Comfortable clothing and shoes. Patients can wash and dry clothing on the unit.
- Pillow and blanket for extra comfort
- Medication list
- Important phone numbers written down
- Pre-packaged, sealed food and drinks for use during breaks
What Not to Pack
- Alcohol or drugs, including oral hygiene and other products containing alcohol
- Matches, lighters, or anything that could be a fire hazard
- Cigarettes, vapes, or nicotine products
- Weapons or dangerous items
Visiting Hours
Visiting hours are on Sundays from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Family and Concerned Persons Programming is on Tuesdays at 7:15 p.m.
