Shayla is a dedicated and compassionate women’s health Nurse Practitioner who is committed to delivering patient-centered care. Known for a warm and approachable demeanor, Shayla prioritizes listening closely to each patient’s concerns, ensuring they feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their care.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Shayla has been a valued member of VHC Health since 2018. As a James Madison University alumna, she began her nursing career working as a postpartum nurse at VHC Health, where her love for women’s health blossomed. After 6(six) years at the bedside, she transitioned to her role as an advanced practice provider after obtaining her master’s degree through the University of Cincinnati. She is thrilled to be able to continue to provide care and grow as an advanced provider at the same hospital system where her nursing career began.

Having trained under and working closely with Dr. Mwesigwa, Shayla focuses on non-surgical needs for the practice and helps treat conditions such as overactive bladder, incontinence, and prolapse. She is passionate about helping women navigate these often under-discussed issues with confidence and dignity. By combining clinical expertise with empathy, Shayla works collaboratively with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that improve quality of life and overall well-being.

Outside of clinical practice, Shayla enjoys staying active through Pilates and Solidcore, traveling, eating sushi, and spending time with her mini dachshund!
