Julia Ellison, DO, is a board-certified internal medicine provider with VHC Health Primary Care - Arlington South.
Dr. Ellison grew up in Mobile, AL, and is proud to say it is the original home of Mardi Gras. She earned an undergraduate degree at the University of South Alabama in biomedical science with a minor in chemistry. Dr. Ellison always pictured herself as a doctor and was inspired by a mentor, who, as a DO, accepted payment in pecans from migrant farm workers for delivering babies and treating various ailments. Dr. Ellison then attended the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, enjoying her educational experience and the distinct four seasons. Dr. Ellison liked her time in WV, but met her husband while doing a rotation close to home in Alabama. Dr. Ellison completed her residency at the University of South Alabama and then returned to West Virginia to teach at her alma mater, WVSOM. Dr. Ellison co-chaired the physical diagnosis course and practiced in the clinic and hospital. After a few years, she moved back to Fairhope, Alabama, and practiced primary care for five years.
Dr. Ellison and her husband wanted to move to a larger area, so their family of six moved north, and she joined VHC Health. As a family, they enjoy hiking and taking day trips. Dr. Ellison also enjoys exercise, good food, and is certified as a life coach. Her mantra is: "We are all works in progress, but perfect just the way we are."
