C. Steeve David, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon focusing on minimally invasive surgical techniques. Growing up in the DC metropolitan area, he attended the University of Maryland, where he received his undergraduate and medical degrees. He completed his General Surgery residency at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore and went on to pursue a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic, Bariatric, and Robotic Surgery at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.

Dr. David joined VHC Health Surgical Specialists with fellowship training and a special interest in minimally invasive laparoscopic (key hole incision) surgery as well as robotic surgery for Bariatric (weight loss surgery) and advanced general gastro-intestinal surgery.

His practice focuses on a wide variety of weight loss surgeries, including robotic and laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, adjustable gastric band, Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch, as well as revisional bariatric surgery. He offers a non-surgical, endoscopic intragastric balloon and is the first surgeon in Northern Virginia to perform the Aspire Assist weight loss procedure.

Dr. David earned the Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery accreditation with the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) for upholding the highest quality and patient safety standards and also participates in VHC Health’s Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery.

His general surgery practice includes antireflux surgery, including non-surgical, endoscopic antireflux procedures. He offers minimally invasive abdominal wall hernia repairs and cutting-edge robotic-assisted inguinal, ventral, and incisional hernia surgery.

Dr. David approaches patient care with open communication, saying, “I like to inspire comfort as well as confidence in the patient regarding their treatment plan. The best course of action is determined based on a thorough discussion of all therapeutic options with each patient.” Dr. David is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. He is involved with the training of medical students and surgical residents from Georgetown University Hospital as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery. He also currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery at VHC Health.

In his spare time, Dr. David enjoys photography, playing the piano, and traveling.
