Ami Patel, DO is a Gastroenterologist with VHC Health Physicians.

She earned her undergraduate degree in neuroscience from the College of William and Mary and completed medical school at Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to complete an Internal Medicine residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Illinois, followed by completion of a Gastroenterology fellowship from Arnot Ogden Medical Center in New York. During medical school, Dr. Patel also earned a Master of Business Administration from Lincoln Memorial University. She is a Northern Virginia native and attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.

Dr. Patel’s areas of interest include esophageal disease, stomach diseases, intestinal diseases, and colon cancer screening. She believes that spending time with patients along with active listening are keys to providing high quality care and long-term relationships with patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, trying new restaurants, basketball, and traveling.

Dr Patel is an excellent, kind and informative medical care provider. I feel very lucky to have her as my gastroenterologist! I have a complicated health situation and greatly appreciate that she explains thoroughly why she recommends doing certain screenings and the treatment we would follow based on the results. She also shows compassion for the high level of medical appointments I have and is flexible about when I need to schedule visits with her or do screenings. Also I am grateful that she has helped me address my concerns about traveling and about how I can handle things if a health problem came up while I am away from home

I'm so grateful I found dr Ami Patel through a friend dr after terrible experience with 2 different supposedly very good gastro. Dr Patel is excellent gastro knowledgeable caring kind she listens take her time and saved me starting me on new medication. She is the best

I had my bloodwork done at VHC. I felt Dr.Patel took the time to explain that my bloodwork results were good and my "issue" had improved somewhat. We still need to find out what is causing it. I plan to have my follow-up with her at VHC when it's time to make my next appointment with her.
