Dr. Aliya Ladha grew up in Toronto, Canada and studied Kinesiology with a Pre-Med focus at the University of Waterloo. She developed an interest in cancer research and obtained her Master of Science in Physical Activity and Cancer at the University of Alberta. She subsequently went on to medical school and graduated from the American University of the Caribbean. She then moved to Detroit to complete her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Ascension Providence / MSU College of Human Medicine. During her years of education, she has received multiple research and scientific awards. Most notably, the Bernard Mendelbaum Award for demonstrated commitment to sustained personal involvement in Obstetrics & Gynecology teaching during residency. She was also the first resident to complete a one-month international elective rotation in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa, where her mother’s family is from. She saw first-hand medical challenges in the developing world.

Dr. Ladha is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. She has particular interests in minimally invasive surgery and high risk obstetrics, however loves the long term relationships that can be formed with her patients throughout the continuum of their lives, from
adolescence to pregnancy to the postmenopausal period.

In her spare time, Dr Ladha enjoys baking, being outdoors, reading for pleasure, traveling and spending time with her husband and young daughter. As she is Canadian, she particularly enjoys watching hockey and
basketball, especially when the Toronto teams come to DC.
