Aliya Ladha, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified OB/GYN with VHC Health OB/GYN - Vienna and Old Town locations. She grew up in Toronto, Canada, and studied Kinesiology with a Pre-Med focus at the University of Waterloo. She became interested in cancer research and obtained her Master of Science in Physical Activity and Cancer at the University of Alberta. She subsequently went to medical school and graduated from the American University of the Caribbean. She then moved to Detroit to complete her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Ascension Providence/MSU College of Human Medicine. During her years of education, she has received multiple research and scientific awards. Most notably, the Bernard Mendelbaum Award for demonstrated commitment to sustained personal involvement in Obstetrics & Gynecology teaching during residency. She was also the first resident to complete a one-month international elective rotation in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa, where her mother’s family is from. She saw first-hand medical challenges in the developing world.
Dr. Ladha is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists, and is a Certified Menopause Practitioner. While her particular interests include minimally invasive surgery and high-risk obstetrics, Dr. Ladha deeply values the long-term relationships she forms with her patients through the continuum of their lives, from adolescence to pregnancy and into the postmenopausal period. She also has a strong passion for breastfeeding and is dedicated to helping new mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals.
Dr. Ladha’s pride and joy are her daughter and son. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, reading for pleasure, and exploring the local festivals and farmer’s markets. She speaks conversational French and Swahili.
