Our History

VHC Health® began in 1933 as a community service project led by five local women's clubs. What started as a small local effort became Arlington Hospital, a 100-bed facility that opened in 1944. Guided by a continued mission to provide the highest-quality clinical care, the hospital has grown and evolved over the decades.
Today, VHC Health is a 537-bed health system serving Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. As we continue to grow and expand our services and locations, we remain dedicated to providing healthcare close to where people live and work.
